Are you a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant looking to enhance your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment?

We are excited to launch a new phlebotomy service and are seeking an enthusiastic HCA to join us for hours per week. Please note candidates must be able to work Wednesdays 8am – 2pm. These positions include working on a rotational basis within our Community Nursing Team, providing the opportunity for a more varied and rewarding role.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing service that puts patient care at the heart of everything we do. You’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality phlebotomy services while also supporting patients in their homes as part of our community nursing rotation.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform venepuncture and support the delivery of our new phlebotomy service for both Adults and Children.
2. Carry out patient interventions within your scope of practice.
3. Manage your own schedule to ensure timely visits are completed efficiently.

Requirements:

4. Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant (community experience desirable)
5. Phlebotomy training or willingness to undertake training
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Must be available to work every Wednesday, 8am – 2pm

Qualifications

Essential criteria

13. Relevant level 3 qualification (NVQ/ QCF Diploma or certificate of care / Advanced apprenticeship) or equivalent or working towards
14. Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)

Experience

Essential criteria

15. Experience as a Healthcare Assistant/ Worker in a health or social care setting

Desirable criteria

16. Experience of phlebotomy for children and adults.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

17. Knowledge of up to date clinical practice
18. Understands the role and remit of Unregistered worker

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

19. Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal & written)
20. Ability to organise own work.

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria

21. Ability to work under pressure.
22. Valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Ability to manage

Essential criteria

23. Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
24. Ability to manage own time effectively.
