This role is based at Atria, in Stafford.
Position:
We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our team in Stafford. You will work as part of a wider engineering team, contributing to the build and deployment of our emerging Lakehouse data project.
Responsibilities And Duties
* To actively seek out solutions that add value across the business and develop tools/reports that further assist in the day to day running of the operation
* Build and maintain ETL data pipelines using Python and SQL on the AWS cloud platform, primarily to support Microsoft PowerBI reporting.
* Identify opportunities to optimise queries and SQL, to improve reporting performance.
* Deploy applications and pipelines to the AWS platform using infrastructure as code.
* Support the wider business by helping colleagues to satisfy complex business data requirements.
Requirements:
Essential Skills
* Confident writing Python applications, especially for data applications
* Strong knowledge and capability writing complex SQL queries
* Experience with relational databases e.g. MySQL/PostGres
* Can write good quality Object Oriented code
* Competent working with version control systems e,g. Git/SVN
Desirable Skills
* AWS platform knowledge or equivalent (Azure/GCP)
* Experience working with PySpark, Pandas and other data engineering libraries
* Ability to deploy applications using pipelines with IaaC (CDK/Terraform)
* Exposure to containerisation e.g. Docker
* Experience with Microsoft PowerBI
Who You Are
* Recent software engineering/computer science or similar graduate or equivalent work experience in the area of data engineering
* An enthusiastic learner, keen to rapidly develop new skills.
* Problem solving mindset and able to work independently, but also ask the right questions, taking responsibility for your work.

* Selection process: Application – Initial Short Teams Call with Head of Engineering– Small take home challenge – Face to face interview with the Senior Software Engineer.

* You must be able to legally live and work in the UK and be based near Stafford

* The postholder will be required to travel to external meetings on occasion by most effective means available
