Supercare is seeking a compassionate, agile, and motivated Day Support Worker to join our children's residential home team. This role focuses on providing high-quality care and support to young people during the daytime, helping them develop skills, independence, and positive routines in a warm, team-home environment. About the Role As a Day Support Worker, you will: Provide care, guidance, and supervision to young people during daytime hours. Engage and interact positively with children, including non-verbal or minimally verbal young people, using communication methods such as Widgit, Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables. Support young people with severe and complex needs, including epilepsy, ensuring medical and safety protocols are followed. Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviour, using safe, de-escalation techniques. This may include supporting young people through crisis behaviours such as hitting, kicking, spitting, hair-pulling, or throwing objects. Assist with activities, routines, and skill development to promote independence. Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a safe, supportive, and routine environment. About You We are looking for someone who: Is agile, adaptable, and confident in managing challenging situations. Has experience supporting young people with epilepsy and complex needs. Can engage and build rapport with children, including those who are non-verbal. Is patient, resilient, and committed to positive outcomes for young people.
