Who you will be Supporting?
Hi, I'm supported in my own home by SeeAbility. Experience supporting a young man like me with autism would be a strong advantage. I am looking for calm, assertive, empathic, and positive Support Workers to join my team. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more skilled and confident.
While I need a quiet and happy environment in my home, I enjoy daily exercise and long walks of up to several hours, so you should be able to walk at least two miles in one go. I also like computers and milkshakes, and it would be great if you liked these too.
I would love for team members to share my interests. You need to be physically fit, reliable, and able to provide personal care support. I have autism and sometimes my behaviour can be challenging, but that shouldn't stop me from doing what I love and staying active.
You will need to encourage me to learn life skills and gain independence. Patience, confidence, and the ability to see value in small gains are essential. Following coaching from my behaviour support team and helping when needed will help us work well together.
This role involves experiencing behaviours others may find challenging. With the right training and support from the team, you'll learn how to respond confidently to such situations.
Essential Criteria
To be considered, you should have experience in at least two of the following areas:
* Autism and Learning Disabilities
* Positive Behaviour Support
* Personal Care
* UK Driving Licence
About You
Do you enjoy making a difference? Are you calm, caring, and resilient? If so, we want to hear from you! You should stay calm under pressure, be enthusiastic, proactive, and comfortable handling challenging behaviours. A manual UK driving license and comfort with driving alternative vehicles are also required.
What will you be doing?
* Daily Care & Support: Assisting with personal care, meals, medication, and daily tasks.
* Building Relationships: Getting to know those you support, understanding their needs, and helping them live independently.
* Empowering Independence: Supporting personal goals and encouraging exploration.
* Social Engagement: Facilitating participation in activities, social events, and hobbies.
* Respect & Dignity: Ensuring respectful and dignified treatment for individuals and families.
