We are currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialised Primary Alternative Provision in Leyland. This role involves providing essential 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil who requires a patient, consistent, and nurturing approach to help them thrive in a school setting.
The Pupil
You will be supporting a child with a unique set of needs, including:
Autism (ASD)
Global Developmental Delay
Non-Verbal Communication
The Role
In this position, you will work closely with the pupil to bridge the gap between their developmental stage and the school environment. You will be responsible for:
Providing tailored 1:1 support to ensure the pupil's safety and engagement.
Utilising non-verbal communication tools (such as visual aids, PECS, or Makaton) to help the pupil express their needs.
Managing sensory requirements and creating a calm, structured learning space.
Collaborating with the SEN team to track progress and implement bespoke, child-centred learning plans.
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience working with children with ASD and Global Delay is essential.
Communication: A strong understanding of non-verbal communication strategies.
Temperament: A calm, patient, and highly adaptable personality suited to an Alternative Provision environment.
Dedication: A commitment to building a trusting relationship with the pupil to foster their long-term development.
