2391 Electrician (Test & Inspect Engineer)
Location: HMP Whitemoor, March, PE15 0PR
Salary: £43,177.30 plus a 5% shift allowance for weekend working
Contract: Full time/Permanent
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Test and Inspect Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Whitemoor, a high-security adult/male prison. The role involves working Monday through Sunday as part of a supportive and driven family, conducting testing and inspections on commercial and industrial electrical systems, catering equipment, and other infrastructure to maintain a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As part of a self-contained city, our team plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the prison, impacting everyone from prisoners to families. You will work alongside experienced colleagues across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, cleaning and administration teams, contributing to a collaborative culture focusing on safety and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
* Perform electrical testing and inspections on commercial and industrial systems, including catering equipment.
* Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and related standards.
* Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines while ensuring the quality and safety of all work.
* Collaborate with colleagues from diverse trades to support the facility’s operational needs.
* Contribute to a safe and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
* At least five years experience working as an electrician.
* Two years experience working in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent.
* Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems and catering equipment.
* Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
* Strong communication skills.
* Basic IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
* Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Can hold C/G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation).
* Can hold C/G 2391 – Electrical inspection and testing.
* NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
* 18th Edition knowledge.
* Good Health & Safety knowledge.
* Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
