Finance Officer
Worcester based with a balance of home and office working
£28,686 - £30,201 per year

We have an opportunity for a Finance Officer to join our Capital Accounting Team based in Worcester. This role offers the opportunity to build valuable experience across a range of finance activities, with plenty of scope to develop skills and confidence in a supportive team environment. As part of Group Financial Services, the team is responsible for maintaining the Group's fixed asset register, supporting management and directorate level reporting, and contributing to the production of key disclosures for the year end statutory accounts. In this role, you will support these processes by carrying out detailed data validation and data cleansing activities, helping to ensure financial information is accurate, well maintained, and fit for reporting purposes.
The role of Finance Officer will include:
* Maintenance of the fixed asset register including additions, disposals and transfers
* Maintaining relationships with other areas of the business including Development Finance, Property Services and Customer Service Centre
* Providing guidance to the wider business on the Group's capitalisation policy.
* Responsibility for supporting the balance sheet reconciliations
* Production of journals to ensure costs are allocated to the correct location, including month-end accruals
* Monitoring the team mailbox, ensuring queries are responded to in a timely manner
* Identifying areas for improvement and shortfalls in service delivery and recommending actions to remedy this, as appropriate
Skills and experiences:
* AAT part/ fully qualified, or equivalent level of qualification, or be working towards this
* Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications with proven Excel analysis skills using a variety of functions and formulas
* Previous experience in a similar transactional finance role along with strong analytical skills is essential
* The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads
* Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
* Highly organised, with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
* Previous experience using SAP would be an advantage
