We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Project Assistant to join the Water Waste team at Yorkshire Water.
Location: Buttershaw / Hybrid Working (2-3 days in the office / onsite a week – Bradford)
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We’re looking for someone who can help ensure our Wastewater R&M Contract runs well, with cost-backed work, a strong focus on health and safety, and collaboration with stakeholders and customers to meet regulatory targets.

Where you fit in
As our Technical Project Assistant, you will
* Drive excellence in health, safety, risk management, and control of work to meet Yorkshire Water’s Safety Policy.
* Report accidents, hazards, near misses, and dangerous occurrences within required timescales.
* Support the Vendor Management Team to achieve wider objectives through strong individual performance.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Investment & Vendor Manager and Operational Project Managers to identify key jobs for auditing.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Carry out spot audits on site, capturing photos/videos to support quality assurance.
* Gather evidence to support claims against third parties who damage Yorkshire Water assets.
* Work with the Legal Department to pursue third-party claims.
* Identify and escalate health and safety issues during audits, with authority to stop work if necessary.
* Audit site resources, plant, and equipment to support contractor payment claims.
* Provide technical support and training based on audit findings.
* Escalate concerns about contractor activity to the Commercial Investment & Vendor Manager.
* Support the review and approval of contractor applications for payment.
Skills & qualifications
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
* Ability to plan and prioritise work to deliver results effectively.
* A collaborative approach, working well with others to achieve shared goals.
* Confident influencing and negotiation skills.
* Solid technical understanding of the sewer network and methods like sewer replacement or lining.
* Experience in a commercially focused and/or regulated environment (desirable).
* Operational experience working on the sewer network (desirable).
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
