Role Overview We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Apprentice Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Clitheroe. This role is ideal for an individual at the early stages of their engineering career who is looking to develop strong mechanical engineering skills within a precision manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will gain practical experience supporting the maintenance, installation, and optimisation of precision CNC machinery, contributing to efficient production operations and high equipment reliability. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Engineering Support - Assist with preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance of CNC machines, including milling and turning centres Support fault finding and mechanical repairs under supervision Assist in the installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment Carry out basic mechanical maintenance tasks, including components, assemblies, and moving parts Support improvements to machine performance and reliability Technical & Compliance - Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics Ensure all work complies with company safety procedures and engineering standards Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections Support adherence to AS9100 and ISO 19443 traceability and compliance requirements Learning & Development - Develop practical mechanical engineering skills through hands-on experience Work closely with experienced engineers to build technical knowledge Participate in continuous improvement initiatives Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment Use appropriate PPE at all times Key Skills & Experience Currently undertaking or recently started a mechanical engineering apprenticeship Basic understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles Interest in machinery, manufacturing, or CNC environments Ability to read or willingness to learn how to read engineering drawings Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Basic knowledge of workshop tools and equipment (desirable) Understanding of preventative maintenance concepts (desirable) Personal Attributes Enthusiastic and eager to learn Reliable with a strong work ethic Good communication and teamwork skills Positive and proactive attitude Willingness to take initiative and develop new skills Ability to work under guidance and meet deadlines This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated apprentice to begin a career in mechanical engineering within a precision engineering business operating to the highest standards.
