Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a confidential search for a pivotal leadership role within a nationwide, multi-site organization.
Role Overview
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will act as the Management Representative with full authority to implement and maintain our Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems. You will ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, provide expert guidance to the business, and drive a mature, progressive approach to H&S management. This role involves extensive travel and offers flexibility in location (within reason), ideally based in the Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish, implement, and maintain the H&S Management System in line with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and BS EN ISO 17025 standards for Testing and Calibration Laboratories.
* Coordinate and delegate daily management system responsibilities.
* Schedule, monitor, and review internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
* Report on compliance with customer, legal, and regulatory requirements to stakeholders as necessary.
* Maintain comprehensive records and data on management system documents and performance.
* Lead and support improvement projects and objectives.
* Suspend testing activities if compromised by out-of-calibration equipment or major procedural departures.
* Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
* Prepare detailed audit reports for senior management.
* Guide and assist with company training programs.
* Drive high standards of health and safety compliance and culture across the workforce.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong working knowledge of management system standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, BS EN ISO 17025).
* Ability to work independently and proactively manage systems.
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations and best practices.
* NEBOSH General Certificate required.
* Awareness of Environmental Regulations and Sustainability.
* Lead Auditor training preferred.
Location: Flexible (Ideally Midlands, UK)
Work Arrangement: Individual Contributor, Hybrid set-up with extensive travel, Nationwide (multi-site)
