Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medicines Assurance Manager to join the Pharmacy Team within the Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain (MPSC) function of the Medicines Value & Access sub‑directorate, part of the Commercial & Growth Directorate.
The postholder will work closely with the Deputy Director of MPSC to support delivery of the national medicines resilience strategy. This will include managing secondary‑care medicines shortages and leading key resilience workstreams such as the UK‑held buffer stock programme and the joint MHRA/Medicines UK Project Revive.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy professional to gain experience in national medicines governance pathways and to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including the MHRA, DHSC, Medicines UK and UKHSA, alongside clinicians from across NHS England.

The office base for this role can be London, Warrington or Leeds. The role will require occasional travel across sites.
The position is offered as a fixed‑term contract (or secondment) for maternity‑leave cover, initially until 31st March 2027, with a possibility of extension until 31st May 2027.
As a Medicines Assurance Manager, the postholder will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver an effective service supporting managers and staff across Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain. The role involves managing medicines shortages and ensuring quality assurance of medicines being tendered.
Responsibilities
* Manage all tiers of medicines shortages relating to Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain frameworks in line with the Guide to Managing Medicines Shortages.
* Undertake internal and external stakeholder engagement to mitigate any issues arising from medicines shortages.
* Develop communications to the NHS regarding medicines shortages.
* Develop and present papers at national medicines groups.
* Lead engagement with suppliers with respect to supply chain.
* The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service delivery, building subject‑matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.
* Develop business plans and provide expert strategic and policy advice and guidance on all areas of the National Director’s portfolio.
