This is an exciting opportunity to work in the role of a Development Worker within the with Home Learning Environment and Early Years Team. This post is full time fixed contract for one year. This is a great time to be joining the team as we continue to work with the early years sector, schools and the voluntary and community sector on the development of School Age Childcare in Torbay.
This post is central to supporting the delivery of this with a focus on high-quality provision - working across partner agencies to develop ways to support the expansion, sustainability and quality of childcare provision for children within Torbay, taking into consideration all statutory requirements.
Then post holder will support the development of local sufficiency planning, assessment and reporting using data collection, consultation and analysis to understand the local early years and childcare market and ensure the council is meeting its statutory duty for sufficiency of places.
The successful candidate must have relevant experience of working directly within school aged childcare, early years, education or family services.
To be successful in this post you will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with a range of different providers, have the skills to develop working relationships with a range of partners across Torbay, be able to prioritise and organise your own work and hold a relevant qualification. In return you will be supported and welcomed into a team that are committed to working collaboratively with the early years and school age child providers to improve outcomes for children, with a particular focus on key targeted groups of children and their families.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.
This post will be carrying out Regulated Activity. As such the post will require an Enhanced Criminal Record Check plus an additional Barred List Check. The check will reveal any spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions (which have not been filtered), any local Police information and a check of either the Adult, Child or Adult and Child Barred Lists.

Skills
Essential:
* Ability to relate to all contacts.
* Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to organise and prioritise work with minimum supervision.
* Computer literate – accurate keyboard and ICT skills including attention to detail.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Knowledge of Childcare and good practice/sector issues and developments.
* An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) (or equivalent).
* An understanding of Child Development.
* An understanding of Children’s Rights and Safeguarding.
* Knowledge of Childminding OFSTED registration and inspection process.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Recent experience of working in an early years or childcare setting at a good or | OS in section grade level.
* Developing and maintaining effective administration systems.
* Evidence of having accessed recent high-quality training.
* Educated to GCSE O Level standard or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 4 in Early Years and Childcare or equivalent.
