SEND Support Worker – School Based (Young People)
Location: Blyth
Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Milk Education is working closely with a specialist SEND school in Blyth to recruit dedicated SEND Support Workers to support children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, compassionate and committed to supporting pupils with complex needs in a structured and nurturing school environment. As a SEND Support Worker, you will work with pupils who may be non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require a high level of personalised support throughout the school day. A calm approach, empathy and adaptable communication skills are essential.
Both full-time and part-time roles are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 5 to 19 with a range of PMLD
2. Support the delivery and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
3. Promote emotional wellbeing, communication and social development
4. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals
5. Support with personal care when required, including moving and handling, toileting and PEG feeding. Full training provided
6. Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Person Specification
7. Experience as a Support Worker or within a complex needs setting is well suited to this role
8. Previous experience providing personal care is advantageous
9. A genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs
10. A patient, caring and non-judgemental approach
11. Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
13. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
