Band 6 Midwife in the Community Midwifery team at Helme Chase Maternity unit, Kendal. Contract permanent, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
* Provide autonomous maternity care within a multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain good relationships with team members to ensure optimal care for women.
* Deliver high-quality woman‑centred maternity care.
* Lead, teach, and support staff across all grades.
* Give education, advice, and supervision to women and families throughout pregnancy.
* Facilitate learning for student midwives and medical students.
* Refer mothers or children to other agencies and specialist midwifery teams as required.
* Provide overnight availability via on‑call to support home birth service and care at Helme Chase birth centre.

Education and qualifications
* Registered midwife.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Current UK driving licence.
* Level 1 degree in a relevant field.
Experience
* Clinical competence to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions and prioritise care needs.
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Committed to CPD for self and others.
* Knowledge of research methodology.
* Understanding of the role of research and development.
