Job Purpose
The Electrical Installation Lecturer will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to students studying electrical installation programmes. The role involves supporting learners to achieve vocational qualifications and develop the practical and theoretical skills required for employment in the electrical industry.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
* Deliver engaging and effective lessons across Electrical Installation programmes (e.g. Level 1–3).
* Teach both practical workshop-based sessions and classroom theory.
* Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning materials in line with awarding body requirements.
* Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of progress.
* Support learners of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
Student Support
* Act as a personal tutor where required, supporting student attendance, progress, and wellbeing.
* Provide careers guidance and promote employability skills, including health and safety awareness.
Professional Practice
* Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, including current wiring regulations (BS 7671).
* Comply with all college safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation.
* Relevant industry experience as a qualified electrician.
* Sound knowledge of current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
* Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).
* Assessing and/or internal verification qualifications (e.g. TAQA).
* Experience teaching in a Further Education or training environment.
* Knowledge of City & Guilds or EAL qualifications.
