The colorectal unit at UHD is nationally renowned for minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery, pelvic floor surgery, specialist pelvic endometriosis surgery (delivered jointly with gynaecologists), and advanced proctology (laser, HRA). The appointee will be expected to deliver independent specialised care across colorectal and general surgery, focusing on the pelvic floor pathway and supporting the advanced proctology service.

Job responsibilities
Weekly Schedule
1. Monday: Wk 1 Clinic (2 sessions)
2. Tuesday: SPA (1 session), Pelvic floor MDT (week 4, 0.25 sessions)
3. Thursday: SPA (2 sessions)
4. Friday: Theatre (alternate weeks, 1.25 sessions)
5. Emergency Surgeon of the Week: 1:8 weeks (ongoing transformation, currently 1:9 at RBH and 1:8 at Poole, 2.5 sessions)
6. Flexi DCC: 1 session for ward rounds and patient admin
Total weekly commitment: 12 sessions.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* FRCS in General Surgery
* CCT in General Surgery or within 6 months or CESR
* Higher Degree
* JAG accreditation in colonoscopy
* Experience in the specialty
* Additional training/skills in robotic surgery, pelvic floor surgery, advanced proctology
* Management and project leadership experience
* Proven management and administrative skills, understanding of management goals
