Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary Band 4
Join Croydon Health Services NHS Trust as a Specialist Pharmacy Technician in our Dispensary Team at Croydon University Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated and committed Pharmacy Technician to join our technologically equipped Pharmacy Department. This role is ideal for newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians or Trainee Pharmacy Technicians who have experience in community or hospital pharmacy and wish to develop further within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support to the dispensary, including labelling and dispensing of inpatient requests, outpatient and discharge prescriptions, controlled drugs and clinical trials.
* Maintain high standard stock control and stock rotation within the dispensary.
* Assist pharmacists in providing comprehensive patient counselling to all outpatients, optimising patient knowledge of their medicines.
* Support senior dispensary staff with inpatient requests, dispensing and labelling for TTA’s; complete in‑house accreditations in the dispensary.
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary pharmacy team, maintaining rapport with medical and other colleagues.
* Assist in training junior staff including trainee pharmacists, pharmacy students and student technicians.
* Counsel patients on their medicines in accordance with departmental standards and enhance the quality of patient care.
* Demonstrate a whole‑system patient‑focused approach.

Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, hold a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science and an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).
The successful applicant will also contribute to late duty and weekend working.
