Main Purpose of The Role:
You will assist with the preparation of accurate monthly management reports and annual statutory accounts by processing journal entries and completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations. The role offers the successful candidate an opportunity to have exposure to a wide range of activities such as month-end, bank postings, balance sheet reconciliations, external & internal audits, ERP master data, intercompany recharges, fixed assets and taxation returns.
What you will be doing:
* Support the preparation of the monthly management accounts in a timely and accurate manner
* Assist in production and preparation of annual financial reports.
* Complete balance sheet accounting, providing robust reconciliations, including general ledger accounts and sub-ledger accounts.
* Assist in month and year end close by processing journals and maintaining accurate books of account.
* Preparation of Intercompany reconciliations and postings.
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
* Maintenance of Financial Master Data in ERP system
* Provide information requests for the external and internal auditors.
* Validate adherence to delegated financial authorities, policies, and procedures.
* Reporting capital expenditure to stakeholders
* Completion of other statutory reporting where required, such as ONS.
* Continuous improvement of systems and processes
Your key relationships will be:
* Internal Collaboration: Work closely with key internal departments including Finance, Projects, IT, and Procurement to ensure effective communication, strong working relationships and alignment on shared objectives
* External Liaison: Maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors and HMRC where required.
Skills and behaviours required to be successful:
* Previous experience in a similar role, contributing to month end close routines
* Experience gained in a medium to large organisation or shared service centre environment
* Understanding of latest accounting principles and financial reporting rules
* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with strong capabilities within Excel
* Previous use of ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP
* Proficient in all Microsoft Office packages
* Strong interpersonal skills: Able to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and with external partners. Experience of working within a multi-site, multi-currency Group is preferable
* Calm under pressure: Maintains composure and focus in high-pressure or fast-paced environments with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Flexible and proactive team player: Willing to take initiative and contribute to a wide range of tasks as needed
* Highly organised: Manages time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
* Forward-thinking: Plans ahead to anticipate needs and prevent issues before they arise
* Excellent attention to detail: Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work
Qualifications and experience required:
* AAT / Degree level with experience
* Desire to continue studying an accounting qualification e.g. CIMA/ACCA
* Experience gained in a medium to large organisation or shared service centre environment would be beneficial
