Learning Support Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for multiple Learning Support Assistants to join the team on an annualised hours basis. In return, you will receive salary of £23,556 - £23,764 pro rata, per annum, depending on qualifications.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Learning Support Assistant, you will provide cross-college support and assistance to students who have identified learning needs.

Responsibilities as our Learning Support Assistant will include:

Supporting the Student

2. From existing documentation and the student profile and in consultation with tutor, identify a range of strategies for supporting individual students.
3. Taking into account the particular needs involved, aid the student(s) to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually by, for example:
4. Clarifying and explaining instructions

Supporting the Tutor

5. Contribute to the maintenance of student progress records by feeding back to the tutor in relation to progress and achievement of students, including reference to attitude and behaviour.
6. Assist in administering routine tests, invigilate exams and act as reader/scribe in exams, as appropriate.

Supporting the Curriculum

7. Support learning activities and develop students’ competence and independence in its use including ICT skills.
8. Prepare and use equipment/resources.

Supporting the College

9. Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate internal nominee.
10. Be aware of and support difference and ensure students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

As our Learning Support Assistant, you’ll ideally have:

11. Educational qualifications to GCSE standard in Maths, English and ICT (C Grade)
12. Able to relate well to students with a diverse range of needs
13. The willingness to undertake a relevant learning support qualification.
14. Able to build and maintain stable, productive and appropriate relationships with students and staff boundaries
15. A desire to work with and support the learning of young people and facilitate student integration.
