Role Overview:
The Director of Technology Commercial & Partnership Management is responsible for maximizing the value and strategic impact of the company’s technology supplier and partner ecosystem. This includes rigorous commercial management—covering contract management, cost optimization, and asset/license management—and proactive strategic partnership development to support growth, transformation, and innovation objectives.
This role operates at both strategic and operational levels—negotiating high-value supplier agreements, building innovation-accelerating partnerships, and ensuring commercial discipline across the technology organization. It reports to the Technology Chief Operating Officer, within a department of approximately 700 staff across the UK and India, supporting infrastructure and application services with a focus on digital transformation and AI application.
Key Responsibilities:
* Align sourcing strategies with business and transformation goals; oversee contract negotiations, renewals, and lifecycle management.
* Manage software licensing, asset management, and technology renewals ensuring compliance, cost-efficiency, and strategic alignment.
* Implement commercial governance frameworks to monitor supplier performance and risk.
* Optimize total cost of ownership through sourcing, consolidation, and leverage.
* Define and execute a strategic partnership roadmap with key technology partners, including hyperscalers, fintechs, and innovators.
* Collaborate on innovation initiatives focusing on AI, cloud modernization, and digital capabilities.
* Maintain executive relationships with key suppliers and partners, ensuring alignment on strategic objectives and value delivery.
* Lead risk management for critical technology suppliers, ensuring resilience and compliance.
* Implement vendor performance scorecards and governance, driving continuous improvement.
* Ensure adherence to procurement policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
* Partner with Finance, Legal, and Strategy teams to align supplier spend with investment plans.
* Act as the single point of accountability for technology commercial and partnership matters.
* Align partnerships with technology roadmaps and future architecture.
* Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to ensure supplier performance supports operational and strategic initiatives.
About You:
* Experience in IT, ideally within financial services or regulated environments.
* 5+ years in technology procurement, commercial management, or related leadership roles.
* Experience managing teams and third-party relationships.
* Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management, and technology performance frameworks.
* Proven leadership in building high-performing teams and organizational change.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
