Science Teacher - Alternative Provision (Secondary) | Northampton | Temp to Perm Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with an Alternative Provision setting in Northampton seeking a resilient and adaptable Science Teacher to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role is ideal for a teacher who understands that traditional classroom approaches don't always work. The school supports secondary-aged students who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including behavioural challenges, disengagement from learning, or complex personal circumstances. We are looking for someone with strong behavioural knowledge and classroom management skills, who can build positive relationships and create a learning environment where students feel respected, supported and motivated to engage. The successful candidate will be confident in adapting lessons in the moment, thinking creatively and sometimes changing the direction of a lesson entirely to meet the needs of the students in front of them. In some cases, learning may need to be more subtle - turning moments where students are pushing against lessons into opportunities for passive learning and engagement. You will be teaching Science to secondary-aged learners, delivering content in a way that is accessible, flexible and relevant to students who may have had negative experiences of school in the past. Key responsibilities include: Delivering engaging and flexible Science lessons to small groups of secondary students Managing behaviour through relationship building, consistency and clear expectations Adapting teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of learners Creating a safe and supportive classroom environment Working closely with support staff and pastoral teams The ideal candidate will: Be a qualified teacher or experienced instructor with strong Science knowledge Have experience working with challenging behaviour or alternative provision settings Be calm, patient and highly adaptable Be willing to think outside the box to engage disengaged learners Be committed to helping students rebuild confidence in education This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to join a supportive school that is dedicated to helping students re-engage with learning.
