With a strong market presence and a clear vision for expansion, they are seeking a commercially astute and hands-on Finance Director to play a key role in driving financial strategy, managing risk, and ensuring financial stability as they scale.
Role Overview
As Finance Director, you will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for shaping the financial strategy, securing funding for growth, and providing high-quality financial insights to support commercial decision-making. You will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator, capable of building and leading a finance function that supports growth while maintaining financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support its growth plans.
Work closely with the Owner and COO to assess growth opportunities, conduct financial due diligence, and support negotiations.
Lead on the financial project management of new acquisitions to the care home group.
Drive commercial decision-making through insightful financial analysis, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring the business remains robust and agile during its growth phase.
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and governance across the business.
Develop and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting to enhance decision-making and efficiency.
Manage relationships with internal stakeholders across the business (ensuring financial literacy to a non-finance audience) and external stakeholders (banks, auditors, local councils etc).
Operational & Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build a high-performing function that supports the business' growth objectives.
Implement best-in-class financial systems and automation tools to improve efficiency.
Key Skills & Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant experience in a Finance Director or senior finance leadership role.
Experience gained from the for-profit social care sector highly desirable.
Experience gained within a high growth business (to include due diligence, integration, and financing).
Experience working in an owner-managed business or entrepreneurial environment.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic insight with hands-on execution.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
