Join to apply for the Lead FPGA Engineer role at IC Resources
We’re supporting a leading R&D consultancy in Cambridge with a rich history of innovation in wireless and satellite communications. They’re hiring a Technical Lead (FPGA/Digital Electronics) to drive the architecture, design, and delivery of next‑generation communication systems—from low‑power sensor networks to high‑performance spaceborne platforms. This senior, hands‑on role is ideal for an engineer who can lead technical strategy while remaining deeply engaged in FPGA development, system partitioning, and board‑level design. You’ll work across multiple industries, from aerospace to telecoms, and help shape the future of novel communications technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Define system architectures and lead FPGA/ASIC design for cutting‑edge communications projects
* Own technical delivery from specification to verification across multi‑disciplinary teams
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to department‑wide technology direction
* Collaborate with business teams to identify and exploit new technology trends
* Work on projects such as satellite handsets, warehouse robot networks, and large‑scale airborne antennas
What You’ll Bring
* Excellent academic background (PhD or degree in Electronics, Physics, or similar)
* Deep FPGA/ASIC experience including Verilog/SystemVerilog, IP integration, and timing closure
* Strong board‑level electronics design knowledge, especially for high‑speed systems
* Hands‑on with toolchains like Vivado, Quartus, Altium, GitLab, etc.
* Bonus: RF systems knowledge, scripting (Python, Tcl), DSP understanding, and prior team leadership
