Job Title: Specialist or Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Baston House School – Kent BR2 7AB
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience) plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus (Welcome Bonus paid as £2,500 after one month and £2,500 after completing the final probation; £3,000 Relocation package where applicable; terms and conditions apply).
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours. Part-time hours may be considered.
Contract: Permanent (term-time only or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances).
We are a multidisciplinary clinical team within an education setting, delivering Speech and Language Therapy services to pupils. This role is part of an employer recognised as a Great Place to Work (5 years running).
Role objective: Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs, in collaboration with an education team, within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
Responsibilities
* Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with the full support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Deliver bespoke SALT assessments and interventions in an education setting to support pupils to develop independence.
* Contribute to staff training and provide consultation as required.
* Collaborate with education teams and other professionals to create person-centred, trauma-informed support that places pupils at the forefront.
* Participate in developing the enhanced occupational therapy offer by supporting apprentices, students, and therapy assistants where appropriate.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
* Valid and up-to-date HCPC Registration
* Registered member of RCSLT
* At least 5+ years of practicing experience at the specialist level with the client group in a similar setting
* Highly developed specialist knowledge and clinical understanding underpinned by theory and practical experience
* Experience working in multidisciplinary settings, with some responsibility for service and team performance
* Experience communicating with and working with families, relatives, and carers
* Experience in developing training and delivering in-person presentations
* Experience providing professional and clinical supervision
* Experience participating in research projects and conducting audits
* Exceptional relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; outstanding written and verbal communication; excellent time management and organisational skills
* Advanced knowledge of core SALT practice areas and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Advanced knowledge of approaches related to neurodivergence, cognitive differences/difficulties, and trauma-informed practice
