Your future role
You will be responsible for the successful and safe delivery of contractual commitments and the achievement of the business plan. You will provide 24/7 cover across the production function within the depot, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met through efficient management of resources. You will ensure trains are delivered on time, in a safe, clean, and fully functional condition to our customers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Ensuring safe and efficient depot operations in compliance with the Depot Operations Plan.
* Managing safety critical arrangements and adherence to rules for pedestrians, vehicles, staff, and contractors.
* Reporting faults, incidents, near misses, and accidents.
* Carrying out maintenance and production activities according to procedures.
* Conducting quality audits and managing depot costs and efficiencies.
* Promoting 5S, Lean maintenance, and supporting Kaizen workshops.
* Managing production teams, monitoring shift-by-shift production, and ensuring accountability.
* Identifying staffing needs, managing organizational change, and ensuring safety and quality standards.
* Monitoring working practices, environment, and training needs.
* Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and statutory requirements.
* Reviewing work plans, maintaining industrial relations, and managing investigations for improvements.
* Coaching and developing staff, maintaining IT systems, and managing work times and leave.
* Encouraging continuous professional development and maintaining contact with technical staff.
About you
We value passion and attitude over experience. The following skills and qualifications will help you succeed:
* HNC/HND in engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in team management, preferably in maintenance.
* Knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, mechanics, and rolling stock maintenance.
* Understanding of quality, health & safety standards, and IT systems like SAP.
* Knowledge of the rail industry, TFL, and Network Rail rules and regulations.
