Salary: Basic Salary of £35,000 plus Bonuses and Incentive scheme on top

Mon-Fri 08.30-17.00, may require a Saturday if needed

My client, an automotive car dealer, are looking for an experienced and ambitious Workshop Controller to join one of their sites in Leicester.
This is a great opportunity for a Workshop Controller to join a busy, successful Service Department, if you have experience as a Workshop Technician and have had some experience of leading then this could be the role for you. The role is mainly off the tools but does require solid technician experience / background. It’s focused on workshop control and overseeing the team, not day-to-day hands-on work, but just requires assistance to the technicians if necessary.
The main aim of the Workshop Controller is to be a driven individual with the ability to do basic repairs on cars, focus on the workshop team and improve the work, which leads to an improved customer experience, efficiency and minimise costs.
Job Description of the Workshop Controller / Workshop Foreman / Workshop Supervisor / Automotive Workshop Controller / Service Controller / Vehicle Workshop Supervisor / Vehicle Workshop Controller / Automotive Workshop Team Leader:
Support the Technicians in the workshop
Ability to plan production effectively and follow a workshop schedule
Conducting the daily meeting of the technicians
Responsible for following up on the decided team KPI’s and ensure the technicians are aware in the workshop
Identify improvement areas that needs to be measured in order to achieve the objectives
Responsible for pre-checking and following the daily planning for the team, in order to predict the need for support
Being available as the first line of support to take over the job or balance the team
Coaching and supporting the Technicians with both technical and administrative issues
Coordinating the improvement work in the workshop by following up what takes place in the workshop
Have the ability to communicate effectively, which means to listen actively and to formulate clear questions and give clear answers
Ability to make the team take ownership of their own performance and development
Have the ability to build transparency, trust and commitment between the different departments (workshop, parts and sales)
The Skills and Competence required of the Workshop Controller / Workshop Foreman / Workshop Supervisor / Automotive Workshop Controller / Service Controller / Vehicle Workshop Supervisor / Vehicle Workshop Controller / Automotive Workshop Team Leader:
Workshop Control experience in an automotive workshop is preferred
Full UK Driving License is essential
NVQ level 3 in Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or equivalent is preferred
Coaching skills
Have a creative and open mind
Basic car knowledge (minimum level 3 or equivalent certified)
Communication/relation skills
Experience to work towards goals and continuous improvement
Analytical ability
Basic knowledge of the whole customer service process including parts and sales
Well suited for both identifying problems at root cause as well as planning the action to eliminate the problem
Have the ability to create commitment and describe how the path to the goal looks like
Willingness and understanding why to delegate responsibilities (delegate in order for the team to develop)
Willingness to change and improve as part of the daily work
Lead by example
