TRANSPORT MANAGER

PURPOSE OF ROLE
Leading Solvent Supplies Limited is one of the major manufacturers & distributors of solvents, chemicals and consumables in the UK. Our head office is based in Tockwith, on the outskirts of Wetherby with 3 additional sites based in Doncaster and Nottingham.
We now have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner/Manager to join our team. This is your chance to step into a well-established business and make your mark as we continue to grow.
As Transport Planner/Manager, you'll oversee the full day to day running of our transport operation:
* Overseeing a team of 4 full time drivers.
* Coordinating our daily national routes and liaison with our external logistics partners
* Ensuring compliance, Safety, vehicle maintenance and operational efficiency
* Collaborating with our teams regarding internal stock transfers
* Delivering an excellent customer experience.
Waste is also collected daily from our regular client base and delivered back to our Waste Transfer Station.
You will be responsible for overseeing wider transportation operations, ensuring efficient and effective transport systems. The role involves strategic planning, coordination, and management of transport activities, including the following key responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES
* Review of current transport provision with a particular emphasis on costs, efficiency of routes and driver utilisation.
* Monitoring and reporting on transport division KPIs, tracking the impact of operational improvements and liaising with other departments to get feedback.
* Management of transport team including feedback, reviews, dealing with personnel issues and developing staff.
* Organising delivery schedules and route planning ensuring efficient and effective route planning.
* Ensuring that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications.
* Ensure that drivers comply with the drivers' hours and working time rules.
* Ensuring compliance with applicable laws (for example, environmental and vehicle safety regulations) and keeping abreast of new legal developments affecting the transport sector
* Maintaining and completing accurate records of routes, loads and customers.
* Working with drivers and clients to resolve any delivery issues or customer complaints.
* Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients
* Managing running costs and vehicle replacement cycles.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
* Experience of managing a team
* Knowledge of transport methods, costs, and benefits
* Good numeracy and literacy skills
* Organised, analytical, with good attention to detail.
* Ability to work well with others and effectively resolve issues.
* An understanding of the law relating to drivers' hours regulations and tachograph.
* A knowledgeable understanding of maintenance procedures as stipulated in the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.
* A valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage Operations would be advantageous
