Alphington Primary School is a large, popular school situated on the outskirts of Exeter and we are looking to appoint an experienced, caring and skilled Teaching Assistant to be part of our team. This post will be based in either KS1 or KS2 for the foreseeable future, but we do ask for applicants who are open to moving to other year groups if and when required.
We are looking to find someone who will work closely with our teachers to get to know our children, giving energy and commitment to each child to help them reach their full potential. We expect our staff to be able to calm and nurture children, provide positive behaviour management and be able to support their social and emotional needs as well as their academic achievement. We are an inclusive school, and our children are at the heart of everything we do.
This post is fixed, at NJC Grade C for 39 weeks per year (term time). The role would suit someone with experience of working with children, either at an individual level or within the classroom environment. You will work as part of a team, under the direction of the class teacher and senior staff to ensure all children are receiving the best possible education to reach their full potential.
Our new teaching assistant needs to:
1. Be able to support children in groups, in a 1:1 capacity as well as within a whole class setting.
2. Have a secure understanding of a range of SEND and this can impact on learning and social interactions.
3. Be able to support with adapted learning that is tailored to meet the needs of individuals and small groups.
4. Demonstrate a drive for excellence in all aspects of school life.
5. Be able to recognise and build on the strengths of all children whilst nurturing their wellbeing.
