Job Description Fans & Compressors Product System Design Integrator Full-Time Derby - Hybrid (3 days a week on site) What you will be doing We have exciting opportunities for a Fans & Compressors Product System Design Integrator to join the Global Mechanical Systems Capability function team in Derby. The Fans & Compressors Product System Design Integrator will provide sound knowledge in Systems Design Integration, being responsible for and having knowledge in: problem resolution, defining requirements; designing and integrating products; performing technical analysis; verifying products, physical & functional systems and components throughout the product lifecycle. What you'll be doing: As a Fans & Compressors Product System Design Integrator, you will apply understanding of gas turbine product operation and product systems, interactions to achieve the following Design of product systems using Systems Engineering principals including the use of Robust Design tools & techniques to achieve optimum solutions. Problem resolution including ownership of, for example: root cause investigations, problem reports, Red Tops, Safety Alert Reports (SARs), Quality Concerns, Major Quality Investigations (MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs). Managing multiple stakeholders and dealing with ambiguity. Elicitation and management of product system level requirements, challenging system level requirements where appropriate and managing the flow down of requirements to component design level Planning and management of product change, design technical approval and technical investigations. Definition of verification strategy to ensure the system meets the requirements. Communication and influence at all levels through good inter-personal and presentation skills. Co-ordination of design and verification activities within extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams. For the role of Fans & Compressor Product Design Integrator, we are looking for someone who is/has: Bachelor's degree or Master's in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and have an understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts which include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, cost engineering and product definition. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and certification frameworks Membership of a relevant professional body appropriate to region. In the UK - attained/ working towards Chartered status is preferred (and equivalent regional variations) Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organisation Proven track record of delivery and at least 3 years of mechanical design experience within the aerospace industry or equivalent We are an equal opportunities employer.
