Family Practitioner
Staffordshire County Council invites applications for the Family Practitioner role. The position supports children and families, providing crisis intervention, working collaboratively with social workers to support children in need, children on child protection plans and children in care.
Two posts are available:
* 18.5 hours per week, permanent
* 37 hours per week, fixed term until July 2026
Main Responsibilities
* Be a key worker for children and families, leading early help assessments and plans.
* Collaborate with social workers to support children in need and on child protection plans.
* Contribute to parenting assessments, support mediation, crisis prevention, conflict resolution and Life Story Work.
* Carry out work outlined within assessment and planning on specific topics: staying safe, loss and grief, behaviour management, attachment and criminal exploitation.
Ideal Candidate
* Hold a minimum NVQ3 standard in respect of working with children and their families, or equivalent, with an understanding of child development and knowledge of mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, poverty and other vulnerabilities.
* Communicate effectively with children, families and carers.
* Build relationships and deliver interventions to children, families and carers, and work effectively in conflict situations.
* Use IT systems and write a good standard of records.
* Commit to and demonstrate restorative approaches to working with children and families.
We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements. The role is currently subject to a review of weekend working arrangements, including any paid enhancements.
