Job Advertisement: Toolmaker / Bench Hand Location: Dudley / Worcester Reports to: Tooling Engineer About the Role The Staffing Network has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker / Bench Hand to join its clients team in the Dudley and Worcester area. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining press tooling, supporting production teams, and ensuring that equipment downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. This role requires someone who is self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing positively to the wider production environment. Key Responsibilities * Cleaning and degreasing press tools removed from production for servicing or breakdown repair * Working independently without the need for direct supervision * Assembling and dismantling press tools to regrind or replace tooling components * Supporting press setters with tooling adjustments and repairs to keep tools running wherever possible * Assisting with locating and supplying correct screws, dowels, and tooling parts from the tool room * Manufacturing tooling components when required to minimise production downtime * Supporting production with changeover parts for product transitions during shifts * Reporting low-stock consumables to the tool room office * Reporting defective equipment promptly * Maintaining general housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe working environment * Informing the tooling engineer of any tooling or part modifications so records and designs can be updated Essential Qualifications & Experience Education & Training * City & Guilds Engineering Level 2 or equivalent * Completion of a press tooling–based apprenticeship Knowledge * Strong understanding of progression press tooling * Experience using machinery such as J&S-type surface grinders * Skilled with hand tools, milling, turning, drilling, and tapping * Ability to read and interpret component and tooling assembly drawings Skills & Personal Attributes * Enthusiastic and approachable * Open to instruction and feedback * Competent working without supervision * Strong problem-solving abilities * Able to work proactively and support production staff effectively Blueprint Competencies & Strengths * Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve tooling problems * Strong support capability for production teams
