Offer description

A Vacancy at North London NHS Foundation Trust.

We are recruiting to cover the established post-holder's role while they are on their 12 months maternity leave. It's an exciting role, jointly hosted by the Trust's Young Adults and Personality Disorder pathways, specialising in working with Young Adults (18-25) who are making the transition from CAMHS to AMHS as they reach their 18th birthday.

The transition of young people from child and adolescent services (CAMHS) to adult mental health services (AMHS) can be problematic. This role has been developed to assist with assessment, risk management, and care planning during the transition so that young people presenting with complex emotional needs are more prepared and receptive to adult services.

The post-holder will be responsible for championing the needs of young people (18-25) within the Camden and Islington Personality Disorder service. You will be required to work flexibly, independently, and responsively within a dynamic environment. Applicants should be comfortable with outreach and multi-agency joint working, and have experience working directly with service users with personality disorder or enduring complex needs. Confidence in providing case consultation to staff from various professional backgrounds and significant experience in multidisciplinary team working are essential.

The main focus of this role is to provide assessment and therapeutic intervention to young people with complex emotional needs, facilitating their smooth transition from CAMHS to the adult personality disorder service. Additional responsibilities include supporting the wider network to work more effectively with young adults presenting with complex mental health problems, specifically personality disorder. Support will be provided through:

1. Staff case consultation (individually or in groups)
2. Liaison and navigation between services in the care pathway
3. Training
4. Direct work with service users, including assessment and therapeutic case holding

North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is committed to improving mental health care across North London to deliver excellent services to our community.

Our Five-Year Strategy includes:

1. Providing high-quality care closer to home.
2. Ensuring equity of outcomes across North London through partnership with local boroughs.
3. Creating supportive workplaces to enable staff to deliver outstanding care.
4. Pioneering research, quality improvement, and technology to enhance effectiveness.

Flexibility in work locations may be required, including at any sites within Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, or Islington, as deemed necessary by the Trust.

The role includes responsibilities such as:

* Conducting psychological assessments of young people using formal and informal methods.
* Joint assessments with core teams for personality-related difficulties.
* Providing training and consultation for primary care management of young people with PD.
* Engaging young people (18-25) with flexible practices within the PD service.
* Collaborating with CAMHS to facilitate smooth transitions.
* Formulating psychological treatment and management plans for complex cases.
* Offering advice and guidance to other professionals.
* Developing therapy options for young people under the PD service.
