Overview
Join us as an Automation Test Engineer within Gateways Barclaycard - Release Testing team. You will be responsible for end-to-end testing of functionality. The team currently consists of 7 members and follows a Scrum framework with a QA-focused weekly meeting for automation discussion. The Release Testing team validates changes before production in a six-week release cycle, with new releases following the deployed version.
What you will do
To be successful as an Automation Test Engineer, you should have experience with:
* Experience in test automation using Selenium/Playwright, BDD (Cucumber), and Java
* Experience in API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia
* Experience in Functional and Non-Functional testing (including regression, integration, and user acceptance) to verify quality and functionality using an automation framework
Highly valued skills may include
* Experience running automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins)
* Experience with test management tools like JIRA and Confluence
* Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter and monitoring tools like AppDynamics

This role will be based in Fleet.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to ensure software quality and reliability.
Accountabilities
* Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
* Create and execute automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria.
* Perform root cause analysis for defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
* Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
* Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to technology communities to foster technical excellence.
