Production Supervisor – Afternoon Shift (Manchester)
£35,000 plus benefits. 2 PM – 10 PM permanent afternoon shift.

Our client is a leading name in several fields of manufacturing, with a major European and UK presence spanning numerous operational plants. As part of the continued growth of the business they are presently seeking a Production Supervisor to provide hands‑on leadership for their manufacturing operations at their Manchester site.
Role
* Second line of leadership and management, reporting into and supporting the Production Manager.
* Taking responsibility and ownership of delivering daily performance targets.
* Improve team members’ understanding and urgency to develop their skill levels and become proactive and motivated to deliver expected individual performance targets.
* Monitor and drive line performance by motivating operators and focusing engineers on restrictions and problems that can prevent achievement of production targets.
* Challenge and improve standard operating procedures, ensuring adherence and communication.
* Part of a professional, empowered team committed to providing customers with the highest quality product in the most cost‑effective manner.
Responsibilities
* Plan day‑to‑day operations of the lines, ensuring no emergency situations arise because of lack of raw materials, equipment failure or product specification problems.
* Develop individuals within teams to be seconded into the role to cover absences through holidays or sickness.
* Organise manning levels, break cover and holiday cover for own shifts so as not to compromise effective operation of the lines.
* Ensure effective product and line changeovers by forward planning, preparation and organisation of resources.
* Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of the process, plant, machinery and associated equipment.
* Operate machinery within a zone, maintaining targeted output with minimal interruption when required to cover breaks or absence.
* Monitor day‑to‑day activities of operators, ensuring they complete and follow up on tasks to an acceptable standard.
* Ensure all team members maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safe working practices.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives on a day‑to‑day basis, fully implementing effort to improve performance, efficiency and reliability.
* Plan and identify training and development needs of the team to ensure effective training that benefits target achievement.
* Use an appraisal system to improve team members’ performance, ensuring objectives are specific, measurable and regularly reviewed.
