Do you have demonstrable experience of working within a compliance and enforcement environment, particularly within a local authority and dealing with members of the public? If yes, we want to hear from you.
We have an exciting role within the Licensing Service where you will handle and progress a range of complex enquiries and provide technical advice to all service users. You will manage a caseload in specialist areas of Licensing, from pre-application stages to providing detailed, accurate information by deadlines, report preparation, and decision making.
This vital role involves investigating complaints, incidents, and applications, taking appropriate action or referring matters as necessary, with minimal supervision. You will also maintain manual and computerized records, including operating the Licensing database, inputting, retrieving, and manipulating data to provide accurate information as directed.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About You
This is a public-facing role, so fluency in speaking and writing English is essential.
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience with local authority licensing functions, a strong understanding of licensing law, especially regarding the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, hackney carriage and private hire licensing, scrap metal dealers, and other local licensing regimes. Excellent communication skills are vital, as you will interact politely and tactfully with a wide range of people in person, in writing, and by telephone.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure are crucial. You should be able to prioritize, plan, and manage your time effectively to meet demanding deadlines and handle varied tasks.
Experience in licensing enforcement activities and premises inspections is required.
A willingness to undertake recognized licensing qualifications, such as the Professional Licensing Practitioner Qualification from the Institute of Licensing, is desirable.
If you believe you could be an asset to our team, please do not hesitate to apply. We look forward to receiving your application.
