At Taylors Snacks, we’re passionate about producing quality products in a safe and clean environment. We’re looking for a dedicated Hygiene Operative to join our team and help us maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and food hygiene across our site.
The Role
As a Hygiene Operative, you will play a key part in keeping our facilities, equipment, and work areas safe, clean, and compliant. Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll carry out a variety of industrial cleaning duties, ensuring our production environment meets strict hygiene and food safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Complete industrial cleaning activities to schedule, following Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs).
* Prepare and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
* Use industrial cleaning tools, such as foamers, power washers, and specialist equipment (e.g. steamers).
* Detail-clean machinery, equipment, facilities, building structures, external grounds, and waste areas.
* Ensure cleaning tasks are completed to the required standard, verified by swabbing or visual inspection.
* Request and manage consumable stock to prevent shortages.
* Maintain accurate chemical records (stock counts, usage, and variances).
* Report any barriers to achieving hygiene schedules or standards.
* Clean staff facilities and replenish dispensers.
* Escalate any food safety issues, such as contamination risks.
* Keep cleaning utensils and chemical storage areas organised and maintained.
* Ensure waste bins are regularly emptied and cleaned.
* Record cleaning tasks completed and inspections carried out.
* Respond promptly to hygiene-related emergencies (e.g. spillages or contamination).
* Provide holiday cover for other Hygiene Operatives as needed.
About You
* Reliable, proactive, and takes pride in their work.
* Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and industrial tools (training provided).
* A team player with great attention to detail.
* Aware of food safety and hygiene standards (experience in a food production or industrial cleaning role would be beneficial, but not essential).
