Technical Manager – Electrical | Manchester | Permanent | Salary + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits
NG Bailey have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our team, ideally based in our office in Salford, Manchester. In this role you will lead, own and manage the technical risk and opportunities within the business, from inception through to completion and client handover. This would be a great opportunity for an experienced Design Manager, Technical Manager, Project Manager or similar with a strong electrical background to join us working on prestigious projects within the region. Hybrid working with 3 days in the office is available. There is travel within the region and occasionally across the UK.
Key deliverables include leadership of technical engineering management on internally and externally designed projects, providing technical advice to other areas of the business, conducting independent design/technical reviews, preparing monthly project reports for senior stakeholders, advising on commercial progress against plan, and managing engagement with consultants to mitigate scope gaps. Build and maintain beneficial relationships with customers, key suppliers and internal teams. Promote the design team and seek out new opportunities. Assist the Regional Design & Engineering Manager with technical management fees and ensure the accuracy and integrity of costs and programmes.
Responsibilities
* Lead the technical engineering management on projects to achieve company, team and individual objectives related to best value design, opportunity management and risk mitigation.
* Provide technical advice and support to other areas of the business and assist with business development from a technical solution perspective.
* Conduct regular independent design/technical reviews of internal and external designs to ensure technical correctness, best value, and compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
* Prepare monthly project reports for Senior Stakeholders highlighting progress, risks, opportunities and resource issues.
* Advise on commercial progress against plan, variances and corrective actions.
* On external designs, own the completion of the responsibilities matrix of the Engagement of Consultant Pack, ensuring scope gaps are mitigated.
* Build and maintain mutually beneficial customer, supplier and internal relationships.
* Promote the design team and actively seek out new opportunities; communicate with project stakeholders to improve collaboration with operational teams.
* Assist the Regional Design & Engineering Manager in producing technical management fees for internally and externally designed projects; ensure accuracy and integrity of costs, values and programme forecasts, and identify actions to mitigate risk and maximise profitability.
What we’re looking for
* Strong electrical background from a Project Manager or Design background.
* Good understanding of Design and Build and traditional construction contracts.
* A degree in Electrical, Building Services or other relevant discipline.
* Extensive experience in Mechanical / MEP design and Technical Management.
