Part of a major international group, this manufacturing organisation is investing in its Midland factory and is seeking an additional Project Engineer to plan and oversee the design and commissioning of significant capital projects.
Project Engineer – Capital Equipment / Manufacturing
Salary: c£50,000
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Telford, Kidderminster, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stourbridge areas)
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of several capital projects aimed at improving productivity and safety throughout the factory.
* Lead the management of designated projects, delivering objectives including revenue, timing, and deliverables, from conception to completion, escalating issues as they arise.
* Support initial feasibility reviews, validation of quotations, and development of project budgets and timelines for plant-based activities.
* Participate in the initial specification of project-related equipment (e.g., extraction/filtration systems, material handling, cranes, factory layouts, M&E, CDM, civils).
* Achieve programme deliverables and report on project cost and timing progress (internal & external).
* Follow business processes to ensure programme delivery and identify areas for improvement. Manage scope changes via change management procedures.
Experience:
* Significant experience in a Project Engineer or Project Manager role within manufacturing or similar capital equipment systems vendor.
* Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers.
* Experience setting up development plans from concept to production, with gateways and KPI trackers, maintaining timing and cost plans.
* Budget control experience (£0.5 – 2 million value).
* Successful delivery of manufacturing CapEx projects, ideally internationally.
* Mechanical Engineering background with a good understanding of factory/production environments and familiarity with CDM regulations.
* Analytical skills, good judgment, commercial acumen, and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong communication skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Structured approach with good time management and project management skills.
