Psychology Graduate - Manchester - Social, Emotional and Mental Health - Teaching Assistant Role

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work in a dynamic school environment, supporting children with Autism and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role offers invaluable hands-on experience for those pursuing careers in educational psychology, social work, or related fields.
As an SEN TA, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them engage in their learning and personal development in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities in Manchester specialist SEN school:
1. Provide tailored support to students with Autism, learning difficulties, and other SEND.
2. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
3. Promote students' emotional, social, and academic progress through engaging activities and positive reinforcement.
4. Collaborate with teachers and professionals to deliver inclusive teaching methods.
5. Support students with personal care needs (training provided as necessary).
6. Observe and monitor student progress, maintaining records and reporting to teachers and parents.
7. Contribute to a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes inclusion.
A degree in Psychology (or related field) is highly advantageous but not essential.
Experience working with children or young people with Autism or SEND is desirable but not required.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs.
Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
