Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for all employees across the business. Ensure correct processing of variable hours, shift patterns, and overtime. Maintain accurate employee data within the payroll system including starters, leavers, role changes, contracted hours, and absence records. Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, and holiday pay in accordance with legislation. Oversee pension administration, auto-enrolment duties, and ensure contributions are calculated correctly. Ensure payroll is fully compliant with HMRC requirements, employment law, and sector-specific regulations. Prepare and submit all statutory returns, including FPS/EPS submissions. Maintain payroll systems and ensure data integrity and accuracy. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, efficiencies, and reporting accuracy. The Ideal Person Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Payroll Manager or senior payroll professional, ideally within shift-based sectors. Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes, including payroll calculations, process, tax regulations and compliance requirements. Strong technical skills with proficiency in payroll systems such as Sage 50. Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
