Overview

Essential Functions And Basic Duties and Supervisory-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:

This is a SEASONAL PRN position.

Compensation Range: $20.94 to $28.55

Position Classification: Non-Exempt


Responsibilities

* Renders basic life support procedures to patients in a variety of settings consistent with state and local operating protocols.
* Ability to work a variety of shift lengths that may include 12- to 48-hour shifts, on-call shifts, and standby/special events of varying hours.
* Provide accurate oral reports to designated medical personnel.
* Assist in extricating trapped victims.
* Transport sick and injured persons to the appropriate health care facility.
* Must possess the ability to read, understand, and converse in the English language, road maps, and accurately discern street signs and address numbers.
* Maintain calm and use good judgment in high-stress situations; work in an environment with loud noises and flashing lights.
* Lift and place patients on a stretcher, restrain patients appropriately, lift and move a loaded stretcher into an ambulance while practicing safe lifting procedures.
* Perform airway interventions, vital signs, blood glucose measurement, patient-specific treatments, monitoring, and interventions, including CPR, defibrillation, medication administration, and mechanical ventilation, as per Moffat County EMS Protocols.
* Observe, record, and report patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents to physician or Registered Nurse.
* Direct and coordinate patient care with other agency personnel (i.e., fire and police) and other employees.
* Drive ambulance to and from emergency and non-emergency scenes in a manner appropriate to dispatch direction and patient condition, and in accordance with driving laws, with due regard for safety of self and others.
* Communicate with the physician and other medical personnel via radio or telephone.
* Complete all reports, including patient care records, legibly and accurately by the end of shift or end of every 24-hour period as required per CDPHE.
* Complete daily assigned chores during each shift, including vehicle inspection and related duties.
* Perform all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential, and professional manner, considering the well-being of the patient.
* Mentor, train, and encourage fellow staff as needed to help them attain their full potential.
* Maintain response readiness consistent with Moffat County’s response criteria.
* Use safety and PPE equipment as required by law and EMS Department policies.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Demonstrates commitment to the CHOICE values of MRH and represents the organization professionally.
* Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication with patients, staff, and vendors.
* Adheres to MRH attire and dress code per organizational policies.
* Exhibits initiative and self-motivation; maintains productivity and manages time effectively.
* Completes required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates; actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes as required.

Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established timeframes. Actively contributes to performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains adherence to standards and policies. Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.


Qualifications

* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
* Must successfully pass a background check.
* Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
* Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
* Must possess a clean driving record and pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check and meet insurability guidelines.


Guidelines (if Applicable) – See Below

* Must possess a valid driver’s license.
* Must not have three (3) or more violations in three years.
* Must not have any of the following violations, regardless of the time period: homicide involving a vehicle; using a vehicle to elude an officer; hit and run; manslaughter with a vehicle; felony with a vehicle; false report to police department; permitting an unlicensed driver to drive.
* Any two or more preventable accidents in 3 years – a preventable accident is any traffic accident which results in property damage and/or personal injury; driving to avoid preventable accidents is defensive driving. The fact that the driver was not charged with a traffic violation by law enforcement is not a part of our definition.
* Any driver convicted of any of the following within the last five years: any alcohol or drug-related offense, including, but not limited to, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.


Education, Licensure(s), and Certification(s)

* Required: Unencumbered license/Certification (if applicable); Valid driver’s license; Valid Colorado EMT-Basic Certificate as it applies; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire); ICS 100; ICS 700; Current Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) 4 or 5; IV Certification (required prior to clearance to independent duty).


Experience

* Required: Previous EMS experience; General knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products.
