We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paediatric Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical care for infants, children, and adolescents. Responsibilities include collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure safe medication use, educating staff and families, and contributing to the health of paediatric patients.
This role involves delivering pharmacy services to paediatric and neonatal patients and leading your own clinic as an Independent Prescriber. You will also enhance your clinical governance skills at the Alexander De Vine Hospice, working within a team dedicated to exceptional care. Although based at Frimley Park Hospital, the role has cross-site responsibilities and leadership across the Trust.
The candidate must have hospital pharmacy experience, clinical pharmacy skills, and teaching abilities. Effective teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires confidence as a senior clinical pharmacist and the ability to mentor junior staff.
Main duties of the job
1. Develop pharmaceutical services in collaboration with senior staff within relevant directorates.
2. Provide expert advice on Children’s medicines.
3. Participate in developing Patient Group Directions.
4. Manage screening, monitoring, and ordering of parenteral nutrition for neonates and paediatric patients.
5. Build links with primary and tertiary care, developing shared care agreements.
6. As an NMP, perform medicines reconciliation and prescribe within your competence, including MCAs on FP10s for community supply.
7. Participate in clinical governance committees related to paediatrics and neonatal care.
8. Evaluate and implement service improvements.
9. Train junior pharmacists and pharmacy staff, acting as an Educational or Practice Supervisor.
