Charlie & Ginger is an independent, Speciality Coffee House serving fresh brunch food items and hosting evening cocktail & live music nights. Now operating for 5.5 years, we have opened a second location in Epsom. We are looking for a skilled, experienced hospitality team members to help us continually maintain and improve our reputation for high quality coffee and best in class customer service. There are opportunities available in both sites - please advise whether you can work across two on application.
We are looking for individuals who feel comfortable training across the mix of Front Of House, Barista and Food prep roles and those looking to take on more responsibility within the team and business in the long term as we grow.
Our Team are the rock on which the Charlie & Ginger experience is built on. They are there to spread joy amongst our customers, making them feel welcome & comfortable by being attentive & delivering first class service.
Every team member is trained in the fundamental role of Front of House & Service, responsibilities include:
1. Welcoming customers & taking orders
Greeting each customer who walks through the door with a smile
Providing details of our fantastic food & drink products when asked
Listening to each customer's requirements & accommodating for specific needs
Inputting customer orders into our till system and taking payment
Relaying food & drink orders to the Chef & Barista respectively
Saying thank you & goodbye as customers depart
1. Serving each order to customers
Preparing food orders for takeaway & cold drinks
Delivering food & drink orders to the customers table
Enquiring with customers whether they are happy with their food & drink
Feeding back to the Barista and Chef both positive and negative customer comments
Clearing tables after customers depart
Loading any used serveware into the dishwasher
Making sure clean serveware is ready to go for the Chef & Barista
1. Ensuring the shop always delivers that wow factor
Restocking empty displays and presenting items in a premium manner
Keeping the counter area clean and tidy
Ensuring that the customer areas: tables, chairs, floor & toilets are immaculate at all times
Supporting on the shop close down shift
Our Baristas are fundamental to delivering the Charlie & Ginger experience. That's because exceptional coffee is the main reason why people walk through our door. Every member of our staff is trained by Ozone Coffee Roasters in London. Our Baristas are responsible for ensuring every coffee we serve exceeds our customers' expectations. Responsibilities include:
1. Delivering consistently exceptional coffee
Dialling in of coffee equipment and opening the shop
Producing every espresso based or filter coffee that is served
Creating beautifully presented coffees
Brewing teas and creating other hot drinks
Quality control of each drink being served
Cleaning & Maintenance of equipment
Providing training to other team members or new starters
We offer a daily brunch menu to complement our coffee. Our menu is short and sweet and focuses on high quality, ethically sourced ingredients. We fully train in house and support Food & Hygiene certification for those who do not previously have this. We don't require trained chefs in this role, but people who love to cook and csn organise their workflow efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
1. Delivering consistently excellent food
Prepping ingredients & produce each day
Creating all eat-in & takeaway orders from scratch
Controlling the quality of each portion of food being served
Ensuring each serving is presented in a visually impactful way
Working with the Shop Manager to develop seasonal dishes and menus
Providing training to other team members or new starters as required
1. Operating an effective and efficient kitchen
Cleaning & maintenance of kitchen appliances & equipment
Monitoring and managing stock levels to reduce wastage
Taking receipt of deliveries
Responsible for keeping the kitchen area spotless, tidy and in line with Health & Safety standards
1. Providing first class customer service
Creating theatre through preparing food in front of customers
Sharing information about our food & it's provenance
Leading by example when dealing with any customer interactions
Listening to feedback from customers to refine and improve the experience we provide
Supporting other team members with general shop tasks
About you…

You will also place great importance on working in a team with people you genuinely enjoy spending time with, and know the value of working together to achieve results.
Ideally you will already have 5 years hospitality experience in a fast-paced environment and are looking to develop skills from a trustworthy, supportive brand. We are willing to support the right candidates with the tools and education needed to progress in the industry. Be that as a Barista, Chef or Manager, we are ready to develop and invest in our team.

Training - All team members will be trained in London at Ozone Coffee Roasters, the supplier of our fantastic coffee beans.
Free Coffee/Food - All team members may consume hot drinks free of charge whilst on their shift. For those team members working longer than 6 hours, their lunch will be provided free of charge.
Staff Discount - All team members will be able to purchase any food, drink or retail product at a discounted rate.
Referral Bonus - If a team member recommends someone to for employment who are subsequently hired and pass their probationary period, the individual who referred them will receive a cash bonus

Uniform – Each team member will be provided with a branded Charlie & Ginger Barista Apron which is theirs to keep, look after and clean. All team members should wear a plain black t-shirt/top and smart bottoms (jeans, trousers, skirts, dresses – as long as not indecent) plus comfortable non-slip footwear.
