Teaching Assistant - SEMH Specialist Support
Location: Leicestershire (LE8)
Pay: £90-£95 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: Trial days arranged ASAP
Contract: Long-term with potential to go permanent
About the Role
Long Term Futures is looking for a proactive Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist SEMH school in Leicestershire. The school caters for children aged 4-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs.
This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in supporting students both in the classroom and through more practical, active learning opportunities. It's a great fit for people who enjoy working dynamically, using energy, patience and consistency to help young people thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Encourage positive behaviour through effective strategies and de-escalation
Support students to regulate emotions and build confidence
Promote resilience, independence and life skills through varied learning approaches
Contribute to outdoor learning, physical activities and enrichment sessions
Work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain a safe, inclusive settingWhat We're Looking For
Experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs
Resilient, calm, and confident when supporting challenging behaviour
Able to engage students through both academic and practical learning
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
A background in youth work, coaching or support work would be beneficialWhy Join Us?
