Location: Brett Martin Ltd, 24 Roughfort Road
To provide engineering resource in a challenging fast paced manufacturing environment. Carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements and modification or upgrade to plant and services in order to minimize downtime and maintain the equipment in the best possible condition.
To strive towards continuous improvement of all machinery and equipment in order to effectively reduce engineering downtime, thereby maintaining plant availability, efficiency, productivity and product quality at all times. To carry out all engineering work to high engineering, quality, safety standards.
About the Role
* Report to and adhere to instructions from Engineering Manager, Mechanical Team Leader and Senior Maintenance Technicians;
* Through good housekeeping procedures ensure that a safe and clean working environment is kept at all times;
* Ensure that the Health & Safety Policy of the company is operated to ensure compliance with statutory regulations as they change from time to time.
* Manage mechanical repairs and breakdowns whilst avoiding downtime and ensuring minimal disruption;
* Fault finding and continuous improvement site wide focusing on critical plant and addressing the root cause of failures;
* Initiating and modifying electrical / mechanical designs; conducting diagnoses, repairing and testing of malfunctioning equipment;
* Installation of new plant and machinery;
* Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on plant and machinery;
* Use of predictive maintenance techniques to support a LEAN manufacturing philosophy;
* Operate under the company’s TPM framework to help improve the reliability and efficiencies of equipment and machinery;
* Maintain equipment maintenance records, ensuring accurate allocation of work hours;
* Participate in equipment reliability analysis to identify: trends, repetitive failures, opportunities for improvement in reliability and effectiveness;
* Complete maintenance improvement projects to support departmental Installation, utility reduction and equipment reliability objectives;
* Act as a member of the maintenance team on providing relevant information as the basis to future planning;
* Undertake fabrication, welding, turning, milling tasks as necessary;
* Act as a member of the maintenance team providing relevant information as the basis of future planning;
* Support the training of new personnel, including employees enrolled in the apprenticeship program;
* Support department sourcing of spares;
* Liaise with equipment suppliers as necessary in relation to equipment installations, reliability an fault diagnoses issues.
Required Criteria
* Completed a recognised apprenticeship as in a mechanical or mechatronic engineer, preferably to HNC or equivalent level.
* Minimum of 2 years' post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing background.
* Proficient in the maintenance of mechanical systems: pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, vacuum systems, mechanical drives / gearboxes.
* Experience in planned, preventative maintenance.
* Experience in fault diagnosis in mechanical systems and equipment.
Desired Criteria
* Experience in equipment installation.
* Experience in fabrication and pipe fitting
* Experience of predictive maintenance techniques, such as vibrational analysis.
