We’re seeking a Floating Support Officer with hands-on experience supporting people affected by housing instability, homelessness, and related challenges. You’ll work directly with individuals and families in the community, providing flexible, short-term support to help them sustain tenancies, improve stability, and access the services they need to move forward.
This is a role for someone who can step in with confidence, manage their own workload, and make an immediate, meaningful impact.
The Role
Deliver flexible, housing-related floating support to individuals and families in their own homes or community settings
Support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including those affected by rough sleeping
Help clients sustain accommodation through practical support, problem-solving, and tenancy-related guidance
Advocate on behalf of clients to navigate housing pathways, benefits, and wider support services
Build effective working relationships with local authorities, housing providers, and voluntary sector partners
Manage a varied caseload independently, responding to changing needs and priorities
Person Specification
Essential
Proven experience delivering floating or community-based support to people with housing-related needs
Experience working with vulnerable individuals or families facing crisis or instability
Strong understanding of homelessness prevention, tenancy sustainment, and housing support pathways
Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and make sound decisions
Excellent communication skills with a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental approach
Desirable
Experience within floating support, housing support, homelessness, or community services
Knowledge of local authority and voluntary sector systems
Confidence working within multi-agency environments
3 months. Immediate impact. Meaningful work.
If you have the experience, resilience, and adaptability to support people where they are — and help them move forward — we’d love to hear from you.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires an Enhanced DBS check due to working with children and young people.
