Job Overview

Full Time, September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter

St Joseph's College is a vibrant independent day and boarding school in Ipswich providing a broad and seamless education for over 590 boys and girls aged 2 - 19. We provide a wide range of stimulating and challenging opportunities that our pupils embrace in both the academic and extra-curricular life of the College.

The resultant all-round education develops our pupils into well-rounded individuals who challenge themselves to ‘be our best’ in every aspect of life at the school, and beyond. Our innovative teaching and subsequent success starts in the Prep School and runs all the way through the Senior School and Sixth Form.

The Humanities Faculty consists of Geography, History and Religious Education throughout the College. It also includes Business Studies at GCSE and A level as well as A levels in Economics, Psychology, Sociology and Politics.

Geography is a thriving subject within the school and is taught across all key stages. At Key Stage 3, we follow the National Curriculum, providing a strong foundation for further study. At GCSE and A Level, students follow the OCR specification. Examination results have been consistently strong at both levels, with a number of students going on to pursue Geography-related degrees at university.

We offer a rich programme of fieldwork opportunities to enhance classroom learning, recent study visits have included Iceland, Naples and the Lake District, as well as areas more local such as Cambridge and Southwold.

For September 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter, we are seeking a well-qualified graduate with a good honours degree and a passion for Geography. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner, capable of teaching with flair, creativity, and enthusiasm across the 11–18 age range. A commitment to contributing to our vibrant extra-curricular programme is essential. The ability to teach Business Studies or a second subject at any level would be an advantage.

Closing date: Midday on Wednesday 2 July 2025. The College reserves the right to interview prior to the closing deadline, so early applications are encouraged.

Further details and an application form can be found at https://www.stjos.co.uk/community/vacancies/ or by contacting the HR Officer by email ( careers@stjos.co.uk) or telephone (01473) 690281.

St Joseph’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Please be advised that applications cannot be accepted unless they are on the College’s Application Form. References will be taken up and will be carefully checked. DBS charge payable by applicant. #J-18808-Ljbffr
