Ryan Hanley, now part of Stantec, is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Ecologist to join our expanding environmental team.
Applicants should have at least 6 years’ experience in infrastructure projects, particularly in coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and statutory consent applications. Experience in writing and technical review of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitats Directive Appropriate Assessments is a distinct advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing designs for wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network infrastructure.
* Preparing feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations.
* Compiling specifications and tender documents.
* Preparing planning application documents.
* Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including clients and contractors.
* Managing others in the preparation of drawings and other inputs.
* Providing technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Relevant third-level degree (Level 8 or higher).
* Minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience, mainly in ecology within planning or environmental consultancy.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
* Experience delivering EIAR, NIS, EcIA, and AA.
* Leading and contributing to EIA projects for major infrastructure, covering all stages.
* Specialization in areas such as aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, or ornithology.
* Experience in consent management, compliance, and assessments like AA, WFD, and EPS.
* Experience liaising with statutory consultees and developing environmental mitigation proposals.
* Understanding of consent and licensing frameworks in Ireland.
* Strong technical report writing skills.
* Excellent planning, project management, and leadership skills.
The following would be advantageous:
* Chartered status with a professional body such as CIEEM.
* Experience in tender preparation and managing client relationships.
