Job Description:
Our client is an ambitious, certified, award-winning B-Corp business offering a genuine alternative to conventional clothing.
We are seeking a Garment Technologist with a strong interest in circular fashion, sustainability, ethics, and fair trading initiatives to join their team during an exciting growth phase and develop award-winning initiatives.
This is a hybrid role: 2 days working from home (Monday and Tuesday).
The Role
This position is ideal for a London-based Garment Technologist seeking a new challenge within a purpose-driven brand.
You should have relevant industry experience and a solid knowledge of garment construction and fitting principles. Excellent communication skills for liaising with overseas suppliers are essential, including providing clear fit comments and addressing daily queries. You will work alongside the Senior Garment Technologist across multiple product categories including jersey, woven, knitwear, seamless, and fully circular products.
There will be opportunities to mentor the Assistant Garment Technologist and provide industry insights and training as needed.
This role offers variety, growth potential, and encourages creative initiative to innovate and improve working practices.
A passion for circular fashion is important; experience in this area is desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing the end-to-end garment technical process for multiple categories, driving circular innovation and technical development to ensure market-leading products.
* Collaborating with the Senior Garment Technologist and Sustainability & Technical Manager to meet impact goals, working with the Circular Textile Foundation (CTF), and managing fiber and material strategies.
* Preparing garments for fit sessions and documenting feedback.
* Maintaining critical timelines in partnership with the Buying and Merchandising teams.
* Reducing return rates and enhancing customer loyalty through feedback analysis and continuous improvement in fit and quality.
* Organizing and approving fabric testing with support from the Assistant Garment Technologist.
* Managing care labels and on-garment branding.
* Ensuring labeling and packaging meet current standards and are aligned with product features.
* Collaborating on the development of high-performance, circular products with the design team.
* Supporting and transferring technical knowledge to the Assistant Garment Technologist.
* Assisting in collecting data for impact measurement with the Sustainability team and external partners.
* Implementing sustainable processes across departments.
Personal attributes:
* Inspired by working for a values-driven, ambitious brand.
* Interest and some experience in circular economy, sustainability, ethics, and fair trade.
* Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful.
* Excellent communication and attention to detail.
* Strong time management skills.
* Team-oriented and capable of building rapport.
* Participates regularly in sports or physical activities.
