Role Summary
Senior Construction Manager – Capital Delivery. Permanent contract. 37 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8:30 am–5 pm. Hybrid works. Salary: Grade K, £56,730‑£60,125 per annum (Level 1–4). Base at Harvey Road (NG8 3BB); travel to other sites across Nottingham as needed.
Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Construction Manager within Nottingham City Council Housing Services' Asset Management team, you will play a key role in shaping the sustainability, safety, and quality of the city's housing stock. You will lead the assessment, planning, and delivery of investment and planned maintenance projects, ensuring they align with resident needs, organisational priorities, and best practice. Working collaboratively with finance, contractors, community partners, and internal stakeholders, you will oversee budgets, drive performance, and champion evidence‑based decision‑making to maximise value and impact.
You will lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team (circa 20‑25 employees), promoting a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and professional development. A vital part of the role includes engaging with residents and community groups, ensuring their voices influence service planning and project delivery.
A strong understanding of contractual frameworks, including demonstrable experience with JCT and NEC contracts, is essential to support effective contract strategy, risk management, and compliant commercial governance across capital programmes.
You will represent the service with professionalism, support effective communication across teams, manage key risks, and ensure that health, safety, wellbeing, and equality considerations are embedded in all areas of delivery.
About You
Key strengths you should bring:
* Capital Delivery Experience – Proven delivery of large‑scale capital programmes (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, or other major investment works) within time, cost, and quality parameters.
* Commercial and Contractual Competence – Knowledge and experience of JCT and/or NEC contracts, including administration, risk management, and commercial compliance.
* Leadership and Team Management – Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, and foster a supportive team culture.
* Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance – Demonstrated understanding and application of CDM Regulations and wider construction health & safety legislation in capital delivery or construction settings.
* Programme and Operational Delivery – Experience managing multiple workstreams or staff overseeing project delivery simultaneously, ensuring performance and risk mitigation.
* Resident and Stakeholder Engagement – Experience working in customer‑facing environments; managing resident expectations and ensuring effective communication throughout project delivery.
